Today’s apple slice comes from Jeremiah 29:11-13 in the NIV version.
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
This passage is one of my favorite portions of the Bible. It is refreshing to speak that over my life when I have no clue where I am going or what my purpose is. It is in those times I remind myself that my Father has plans for me. He has a will and a purpose for my life. He has a direction He wants me to follow.
Let that sink in for a moment. How many times are we so busy with our own trivial lives that we forget to seek out His plan for us? I know I get caught up in myself far too often. It is only natural that we focus on our goals and plans; we were created to live with purpose. But we must live according to God’s purpose.
Moving past the awesome plans God has in store for his children, I’d like to talk about verses 12-13. The Lord is pouring His heart out to us. His heart’s cry is for us to come to Him and to seek Him. He says we will find Him when (and if, really) we seek Him with all of our hearts.
